Happy Freaking Thanksgiving....Warning TMI

A belated Happy Thanksgiving day to all my loyal readers!  I hope you all ate until you had to unbutton your pants!

Our Thanksgiving however, was not so fantastic.  Wednesday night around 8 my eye started bothering me.  Remember when I blogged about Little Lion poking me in the eye when he was one month old.  Well the pain started again.  I figured I must be dehydrated and drank a bottle of water and went to bed.  In the morning I woke up to this..... GRAPHIC.....Sorry a not so pretty picture!
I was in pain!  I thought hmmm maybe it's pink eye instead.  Granted I didn't know anyone who had pink eye, but you never know with all the germs around.  So I didn't want to go to Thanksgiving and expose everyone to pink eye.  I called the nurse hotline through AARP...thanks Dad :)  She said it didn't sound like Pink Eye which was good news.  Except now I was worried wether or not I needed antibiotics.  Now remember it's Thanksgiving day....is anything open....NO!!!!  Luckily for me, Mr. E has been doing a side job of setting up a doctor's office.  Guess what kind of doctor....an EYE doctor!!  So I texted her and then talked to her.  She said it didn't sound like pink eye also and she'd see me tomorrow (Friday) if it didn't get better.  So off we went to Thanksgiving lunch at my parents, dinner at Mr.E's family.  I just wore sunglasses all day since my eye was sooo sensitive to light and looked even worse then the picture above.  I was in pain and took Tylenol all day.  And I carried a tissue because my eye just leaked and leaked tears.

The next day, Friday, I woke up with the same amount of pain except now my vision was blurry in that eye.  I called the Dr. who agreed to see me on her day off...Mr. E went to work also on her stuff ;)  She checked me out and agreed that my cornea abrasion had returned.  She informed that I will probably deal with this for the rest of my life.  I just need to be proactive.  I should use eye drops daily and take flax seed oil to keep the moisture in my eye.  Basically (ready for a medical lesson) the cornea is weak in that spot and when you rub the spot because of dry eyes the new cells slack off.  Therefore over time the spot eventually becomes the hole of Little Lion's finger.  Who said having kids was easy????

I am now dilating my eye with drops every 2-4 hours and putting another healing drop in my eye every 2-4 hours and putting antibiotics in morning and night.  I do this all weekend until I see the Dr on Monday.   Good times. Good times.

Little Lion is really really lucky he is so darn cute with all this pain he has put me through!!!

How Old Do I Look????

30???  21???  46???  17???  24???  36???

I went to Publix today (our local grocery store) to get food (duh) for the holidays and to eat (duh again).  I had Little Lion with me in the BIG race car cart.  This thing really could knock someone out and the turn radius is NOT good.  I suck it up however, because LL will actually sit in it for the majority of our shopping trip.  I filled up our cart and only had one minor LL tantrum (woo whoo).  The last thing I added to our obnoxious cart was Mr. E and my favorite beer, Leinenkugels.  (Yeah Wisconsin beer!) I bought 2 six packs of Honey Wheat since that's all they sell.

I get to the check out and put all the grocery's on the checkout.  I go over to swipe my credit card when I notice that I don't have my Discover Card (no big deal, even though it's 5% cash back now on groceries), but I don't have my driver's license either.  (See where this is going?).  I had given both of those to Mr. E on Saturday night for our date night to Roy's and Twilight movie.  I didn't want to bring my purse.  Well I forgot to put them back in my purse.  I thought oh well I'll pay with my debit card, they don't need an id for that.  What I didn't think would happen was the cashier, whom I've bought many groceries from before including beer, would ask for my id to buy beer!!!!!!!!!!

Cashier:  Do you have your id?
Me:  Really?  I actually don't it's in my husband's wallet.
LL:  WAAAAAA  (he wanted a balloon).
Cashier:  I can't sell you beer without an id.
Me:  Really???  I'm 30!  (thinking about my eye wrinkles and looking at LL and this big ass cart thinking what teenage would have all these groceries and a whining 2 year old in car cart???)
Cashier:  Sorry, you can't buy it. (as she takes the 2 six packs away)
Me:  Fine. Whatever.  REALLY I'M 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH!  I was soooo annoyed.  I mean I understand you need to see an id for someone who looks young.  I think I look young too, but NOT under 21 young!!!!  Plus that would mean I'd have LL when I was 18(no offense to anyone who did).  Sheesh!  So I have no beer and I'll have to go back tomorrow (we can't make it through the holidays at the inlaws without it!) and you better believe I'm going through that lady's line!!!  And I will definitely be pointing out that I'm THIRTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I never thought I'd be so proud to announce my age ;)

If You're Happy And You Know It!

The talented Little Lion is a computer geek like his father.  LL loves playing on the computer!  So for our trip to Hawaii we bought Sesame Street First Steps to help entertain him on the 15 hour flight.  One of the games is Do I What I Do Songs.  The songs are Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes, Where is Thumbkin?, and If You're Happy and You Know It.  LL enjoys watching them all.  Well he actually does what the characters are doing!  It is so cute!  Last night before bed, we were playing and singing.  Here is the talented Little Lion.  Notice he points to his face too for "you're face will surely show it".  Soooooooooooo cute!!!

Blast Off!!!

Tonight was the last night shuttle launch.  So Mr. E, Little Lion, and I decided to head over to Cocoa Beach to watch Endeavor blast off.  Mr. E has been going to shuttle launches since he was a little boy and has fond memories.  I never experienced one until meeting Mr. E and we usually go a couple times a year.  So of course Mr. E wants Little Lion to have the same great memories ;)

This was our 2nd night launch.  These are the best to see since you get to see it go from pitch black into daylight for a few seconds.  It's amazing every time!   It's also fun because we park on the side of the road with LOTS of other people and everyone gets out of their cars and sits on the roof or walks to the water to get the best view.  We usually don't go to Shuttle launches even though they are 30 mins away because of traffic and timing, and we can see them from our back yard well.  However, tonight was perfect!  There was a full moon and the temperature was 80 degrees.  Plus it's always more fun to feel the blast and be around all the spectators.  I decided to take a video with Mr E's phone.  It only records 30 seconds hence the 2 videos ;)  It really doesn't do it justice!  Gotta love living in Florida :)

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Can you believe it's already the holiday season???  Seriously time flies by way too too fast!  Being a planner by nature, I've already finished half of my Christmas shopping list and pretty much know what I'm getting everyone else.  Today my SIL (sister-in-law) and I decided to take the kids to get pictures taken together at JCPenney for the Grandparents.  SIL has 2 kids, a boy J and a girl M.  The three of them are 10 months apart, so basically 1, 2, and 3 years old.

Things that I learned about going to get professional pictures.

**Take lots of things to entertain all parties involved....toys, suckers, bubbles for the kids and a small flask for the mommies ;)

**You have to sit through all of the *enhanced* pictures that the clerk tries to sell you...just smile and say I want the Free 8x10 and the cheapo $3.99 a sheet pictures.

**Kids when they are 1 and don't walk yet, sit nice.  Kids that are 3, listen to directions well and sit nice.  Kids that are 2, have a mind of their own and don't want to sit EVER;o)  Guess which one is mine?????

**The best shot is ALWAYS the first one.  45 minutes later, we decided that was it and the first one is the best one.

**Clear the rest of the day because baby and Mommy need a nap...BAD!!!!

Happy Holidays early.....16 days to Thanksgiving.....45 days to Christmas.....52 days to 2009....55 days until LL is 2!

AWing LIttle Lion

My son is a GENIUS!!!  At least to me anyway ;)  A few days ago, I got Little Lion up and put him on the floor to change his diaper.  I usually give him something to do so he stays still.  I handed him a hooked on phonics electronic number game.  It looks like a calculator and yes it's odd that it's numbers, but hooked on phonics ;)
Anyway, so I'm not really paying attention to what game his playing.  He got this toy from Grandma on our trip to Hawaii, so he's learning to pick different games and press the buttons.  All of a sudden I hear Marvelous, Great Job, Super!  I think to myself "Wow he is having great luck!"  I continue to listen.  It's find the number game.  "Find the number 7."  LL presses 7.  "Excellent!"  "Find the number 10."  LL presses 10.  "Marvelous!" "Find the number 2."  LL presses 2!  HOLY MOLY!!!!!  He knew all of the numbers!!!!!!!!!!  I've never sat down with him and actually went through the numbers.  We do point them out to him, but never pressured him.  And the crazy part is that HE BARELY TALKS, but knows his numbers????!!!  I feel so proud that he is being a little sponge.  Does this mean he's going to be an engineer??????

PS...It's not a fluke ;)  He still knows them a few days later :)

Vote!!

Did you go out and vote today?  I did! And we only had to wait 5 minutes.  That is one of the perks of staying home!!

I like election day!  The excitement of seeing the outcomes thrills me every time!  I'm anxious to see who our new President will be!  I can't wait to watch the ticker tonight!

If you haven't vote, do it NOW!!!!!!

Dinosaur Pull-Apart Cake

Since I'm infamously *known* for my cakes :)  I thought I'd blog about my creation this evening.  Tomorrow is Mr. E's coworker's birthday.  I had bought a while back a pull-apart dinosaur cupcake pan for 75% off ;)  I thought I'd use it for Little Lion's 2nd birthday.  Tonight was the perfect time to try it out.  Plus boys don't care what their cake looks like as long as it tastes good. Using the 50% off Halloween cake mix minus the orange and brown confetti, I made the cake in this pan.
I took out the pieces.  As you can see it stuck to the pan even though I floured it.  I put the pieces together.  So when you serve the guests they just need to pull a section...no knives :)
I fixed the part that was stuck in the pan by glueing it back together.  The glue is frosting ;)
Next I used black frosting liner to outline the arms and feet.  He also needed eyes and a mouth.
Then I intended to use the ziplock bag trick to frost it.  That is when you put the frosting in a baggie and cut the tip.  However, the frosting I bought was too creamy for it to work well.  So I just good ole frosted it.
Finally for the finishing touch, we added Skittles to the dinosaur's body.  Sorry it's sideways...you get the point ;)
He needed to get a gift too.  We went to my favorite store....Target :)  And I have to brag on our deals!  We bought him a wine refrigerator for $50!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was $200!  Score!!!

Ahoy Stinky!!!

I promise this is my last Halloween post;o)  Little Lion had a great day yesterday!  We went to SeaWorld in the morning to trick or treat and look at the animals.  In the evening we decided to go trick or treating in the neighborhood.  In order to do that, Little Lion needed to put his costume on.  You've already seen the Skunk costume, but he was NOT wearing it again.  If he sees the costume, he started screaming and running.  So we decided to be sneaky.   Mr. E was throwing LL in the air and I caught him in the bodysuit ;)  Whoo who!  However, he was NOT putting the hat on.  So we had to improvise.  I took his baseball hat which he loves to wear and put a skull and crossbones over the front design and LL wore his Pirates of the Caribbean Crocs.  That is how he became the Pirate Skunk ;)  A mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do ;)

I hope your Halloween was spooky!  I can't wait until next year!
